Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Care for Children

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Care for Children | Pediatrics

Changing Kids’ Lives with Advanced ENT Care

WMCHealth Physicians: Advanced ENT Services proudly serves patients of all ages with comprehensive ear, nose, and throat care. In some cases, care may begin at birth. Take, for example, Joshua Latouche, a 1lb, 7 oz premature infant who was born at just 23 weeks. After months of intubation, Joshua was transferred to the only Level IV Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU) in the Hudson Valley at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth).

Shortly after his arrival, Tali Lando, MD, and her team performed a tracheotomy and inserted a tracheal tube, allowing Joshua to breathe without a ventilator for the first time. A few months later Dr. Lando determined that reconstructive surgery would be required to repair subglottic stenosis, a condition which severely limited Joshua’s air intake ability. At the age of two, when Joshua was old enough for the procedure, Dr. Lando and her team performed the airway reconstruction surgery. Today, Joshua is an active, typical preschooler, breathing well with no special care. (Read the full story.)
