Dr. Arkovitz obtained his medical degree from New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at NYU - Bellevue Hospital Center. He completed a two-year research fellowship as well as a clinical fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center where he stayed on for a year as a member of the Division of Pediatric Surgery.

Dr. Arkovitz then joined the faculty of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as an assistant professor of surgery and attending surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. While there, he was the principal investigator of a $3 million NIH funded research grant looking the genetics of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). In 2009, Dr. Arkovitz moved to Israel where he was Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Dr. Arkovitz joined the pediatric surgery team at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in 2018. He will serve as Director of Pediatric Surgical Oncology and as a member of the pediatric surgery team. He has a wealth of experience in pediatric surgical oncology, thoracic surgery, hepato-biliary diseases, and newborn surgery.
