Target Audience

Nurses, Physicians, Paramedics and EMT’s interested in pre-hospital emergency care of patients with neurological injuries and disorders.

Goals

The goal is to present emergency care providers, physicians, nurses and first responders with the information necessary to improve care and outcomes for the stroke patient.

Objectives

1. To understand the pre-hospital assessment and the critical role of EMS.
2. To discuss the Emergency Department stroke process.
3. To understand how to recognize stroke and treatment priorities of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
4. To discuss indications for mechanical thrombectomy and the new concept of tissue-based inclusion criteria for mechanical thrombectomy.
